“Proclaiming Christ means showing that to believe in and follow him is not only something right and true, but also something beautiful, capable of filling life with new splendour and profound joy, even in the midst of difficulties”

Pope Francis - Evangelii Gaudium

faith lived out in the everyday

Tanglewood Atelier is a creative studio run by illustrator Emma Walton and its mission is to visually communicate the Gospel and the beauty of the Catholic faith through thoughtfully-made resources, illustration and creative design.

As well as having an online shop and resources bank, Emma has worked with numerous faith-based organisations to produce creative solutions and visual communication through a mixture of illustration and design work. We work with large organisations and parishes, all the way across the spectrum to individuals.

Selected client list:

CAFOD, His Girl Sunday, Blessed is She, CELEBRATE Trust, Taunton Vale Catholics, Ten Ten Resources, Doodling Faith

I’m Emma: a Catholic convert, wife, mother, illustrator and occasional pharmacist. Yes, that’s a lot of hats! I started Tanglewood Atelier (although it was known by a different name) in 2016 as an outlet for my creativity and a place to organise my (then sporadic) commission work and any items I made.

I have always been passionate about art and illustration but actually did a Masters in Pharmacy, completing my Masters project on the chemistry of natural medicinal products in 2015. I enjoyed this immensely, but took the difficult decision to give up full time hospital work to focus on bringing up my family.

Tanglewood Atelier never set out to be a Catholic design studio, but it has gradually developed into exactly that! I have a heart for sharing the Faith with our youngest members of the Church and have a particular interest in inclusive catechesis and evangelisation. I am constantly thankful for the Lord’s providence and gift of allowing me to create art for His Kingdom.

We often get questions about the name. Why Tanglewood? Well, Tanglewood was the name of my beloved family home where I spent my childhood years. I wanted a name which invoked a feeling of comfort and cosiness and this is exactly what it does for me.
